GIS «Environmental studies of the Barents sea in the district of developing and impact of Shtokman project» |
ARKHIPOVA O., BIRYUKOV P., KULYGIN V., SLADKOVA YU. Creating of information-analytical systems for monitoring the environment and sources of its pollution is one of the most effective and important application of geographic information technologies.Geographic Information Systems (GIS) can best combine cartographic material of studying area with the database (DB) of the sites to implement this in a convenient software with a variety of analytical tools. GIS «Environmental studies of the Barents Sea in the district of developing and impact of Shtokman project» is an integral part of the cartographic database (CDB) described in (Arkhipova et al., Present collection). The application has been developed to visualize the information having a spatial dimension and collected during expeditions MMBI KSC in 1993 - 2007 (Scientific and methodical ..., 1997, Yarygin et al., 2004). That is for the stations – the sites of various studies to be displayed on digital maps. The proceedings of all observations are stored in a database developed within Microsoft Access. GIS–application has been developed within ArcGIS Desktop 9.* and contains all the basic functions and tools needed for storage, analysis and visualization of spatial information. Employed key components of the product are: The dataware of GIS project is due to the nature of tasks: exploring the area, collection and analysis of spatial information on the territory of the selection. There are a few data frames1 according to their names in GIS: Data frames «The overall base of environmental studies» and «Base of environmental studies in the areas of alleged passing pipe gas pipeline» are different in scale topographic base. The points of measurement of all types of studies are mapped in these data frames automatically (the developed software module «GIS <–> DB»). Mapping of integrated stations with total exploration of all types of studies for 2003, 2005, 2007 and points of measurement of seismological activity for 1758-2006 was carried out in the GIS project. Data frame is a group of layers that appear together in a separate structure. Toolbar UI in GIS project can be divided into two groups: 1. Embedded ArcGIS toolbars (with the standard features - open, print the file, enlarge/reduce the image on the screen, move around the screen, etc.). 2. Specialized custom toolbar developed to implement the GIS and database interaction. Two versions of the interaction of applications were taken during development of the CDB project: 1. Initially Microsoft Access database file is launched. That allows working with data of various studies and running GIS to visualize the interesting material directly from the application; 2. Initially GIS-application file is launched. That allows assessing environmental studies of the district of developing and impact of Shtokman project. Access to the data of environmental studies for years is done when choosing interesting year from combo box tool. The approach to develop an information system based on GIS technologies for assessing environmental studies in the districts of developing sea gas fields is suggested in this paper. The developed information system allowed to combine cartographic material of study area in the districts of developing sea gas fields with databases of environmental monitoring, to implement this in convenient software with a variety of analytical tools.
